The networking events taking place throughout the Northern Lights 2012 event provide participants with ideal opportunities to network with other individuals in a relaxed and entertaining atmosphere.  All social events will take place at 55 Colonel By Drive in the new Ottawa Convention Centre.

OPENING CEREMONIES / MEET & GREET

Each year, the Opening Ceremonies/ Meet and Greet continues to be one of the most spectacular events of the entire conference and tradeshow. With welcoming remarks from dignitaries and Co-Chairs of Northern Lights 2012, impressive arts and culture performances, exciting musical acts, and a tribute to the regions of Nunavut, Nunavik, and Labrador/ Nunatsiavut, this special evening promises to be an event to remember.

Evening dignitaries to include Co-Chairs of Northern Lights 2012, as well as the Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson. Other invitees include His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada. Entertainment for the Opening Ceremonies will be provided by Buddy Wasisname and the Other Fellers.

BREAKFASTS AND LUNCHEONS WITH KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

A number of breakfasts and luncheons with keynote speakers will take place throughout the Northern Lights 2012 event. What better event to learn about the major developments and abundant business and partnership opportunities from industry decision-makers in the eastern arctic and north?

High-profile speakers for the Northern Lights 2012 event will include a keynote address from Dr. David Suzuki at 12:00pm on Wednesday, February 1 at the Ottawa Convention Centre. Other invitees include officials from all levels of government and private-sector business leaders from a variety of sectors and each of the northern regions as well as southern areas.

GALA EVENING

The much-anticipated black tie gala will be taking place on Saturday, February 4. The final evening of the event will take place in the elegant ballroom on the fourth floor of the Ottawa Convention Centre. With high-profile speakers and special guests in attendance, performers from across the eastern arctic and north, an impressive northern fashion show, and an auction with all proceeds going to a charity in Nunavut, Nunavik or Labrador / Nunatsiavut.

The stunning view of the Rideau Canal and Ottawa’s downtown landmarks make the venue’s fourth floor a unique and ideal location to host the black tie gala.
